Sign digital documents securely and verifiably identify the person who signed them.

An electronic signature enables documents to be signed digitally and identifies the signer. Legislation distinguishes between simple, advanced and qualified electronic signatures.

The required type depends on the document, procedure and requirements of the institution or platform receiving it.

What is a qualified electronic signature?

A qualified electronic signature is created using a qualified certificate issued by a qualified trust service provider.

Under the law, it has the same legal effect as a handwritten signature. Simple and advanced electronic signatures may also have legal effects under the conditions set by law, but are not automatically equivalent in every situation.

Where can it be used?

  • returns and documents submitted to ANAF;
  • transactions through the Virtual Private Space (SPV);
  • documents and applications filed with the Trade Register;
  • company contracts and internal documents;
  • procedures carried out on electronic platforms.

Technical requirements and the accepted signature type must be checked for each institution or procedure.

How is it obtained?

  • Choose a qualified trust service provider.
  • Complete the identification procedure required by the provider.
  • Receive the certificate and signing solution, on a cryptographic device or in the cloud.
  • Set up the applications and platforms where you will use the signature.
  • Renew the certificate before its validity expires.

Subsequent expiry of the certificate does not automatically invalidate documents signed while the certificate was valid.
